Then there is the kind that grows undetected and destroys your body. Complaining is like that; it impacts your health and sabotages your success. Paul says, ‘Do everything without grumbling or arguing.’ (Philippians2:14NIV)Christian Counsellor, Dr Ann Shorb, writes: ‘If you find yourself … feeling negative and down … listen to what’s being said around you. Is there a lot of grumbling and complaining? Are the people you spend time with constantly expressing discouraging thoughts and feelings? … Maybe you are the one … griping and complaining … Many times, we become our own worst enemy, by developing angry or bitter attitudes … Your thoughts and attitudes are your choice. Where you put your mind is up to you! … Follow what the apostle Paul wrote about putting off the negative and putting on the positive (see Colossians 3:1-15 and Ephesians 4:20-32) … Acknowledge that there are problems … but don’t dwell on them … Do what you can to remedy the situation. Remember … you can never change another person, only yourself and your attitudes … Find the positives … Focus on these and be thankful that God promises to be with you … through the hard times … Use Bible verses and inspirational sayings to re-focus when your thinking starts to go downhill … By changing your thinking you change your outlook, and by changing your outlook you change your life.’To one person the world looks desolate; to another, the same world looks rich and interesting. What you see depends mainly on what you look for. Make up your mind not to complain for a day. Then, challenge yourself not to complain for a week. This Week’s Devotional:“Stop Running On Empty”I usually drive my wife crazy when I see how far I can go on an empty tank of gas. Now, when traveling in town it’s not a problem, but not when I’m outside city limits. It’s not fun running on empty especially when I end up running out of gas 10 miles from the nearest gas station. But what I’ve found to be worse is when we’re running on empty in our spiritual lives. Isn’t it ironic how we live in a world filled with time saving devices, but have no time? We have computers, the Internet, and cell phones all promising a better and improved life, yet our lives are far more complicated than at any time in human history. These machines haven’t decreased our workload; instead, they’ve increased it. So instead of a simpler life, people are more discontented and stressed than ever before, and as a result are getting overloaded and are running on empty. But to set the record straight, life wasn’t easier back “in the day,” it just wasn’t as complicated. Today it’s all about trying to eke out a little more time, and what we’re finding is that our lives are far less significant when compared to eternity and our mortality.How can we stem this tide? We need to simplify our lives back to the priority of God and His will for life. This includes confessing we’ve been living our lives more for ourselves than for God. Taking a personal inventory of exactly what we are doing, and then weed out what isn’t necessary, and then start taking more time to be with God and others. Finally, we need to obey the Fourth Commandment and keep a Sabbath Day, that is, a day of rest where we concentrate on the spiritual side of our lives.The Apostle Paul said, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Divine Order means that no random or arbitrary events or circumstances occur in your personal life experience or that of the Universe.They all have meaning and purpose, and for you personally, this means allowing the meaning and purpose of all events and circumstances to be revealed to you. You do not necessarily have to look for the meaning continually; you can allow it to come. Most importantly, it means not blocking that information by initially labeling events and circumstances as meaningless or simply accidents.All that does occur for you and your world is to cause your expansion and the evolvement of the world at large. OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: WEDNESDAY MAY 8TH 2024TOPIC: THE SNARE OF THE FOWLER IIIMEMORISE:“And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” - (Matthew 5:29)READ: MATTHEW 6:22-23 (KJV)22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!MESSAGE:Yesterday, I promised to discuss the three major qualities that make the devil’s baits effective. The first bait the devil ever used was the forbidden fruit. When you read Genesis 3:6, you will see all the qualities of the devil’s bait in the fruit. Eve saw that the fruit was pleasant to the eyes. The fowler’s bait is usually attractive and difficult to ignore.The devil studies a fellow and knows the things that he or she is attracted to. You will hardly see a man commit adultery with a woman he considers ugly. The bait the enemy will use is usually attractive. Don’t be fooled by its attractiveness; it has death in it. In Judges 16:4, Samson ‘fell in lust’ with Delilah and threw all caution to the wind. The devil used his attraction to her to bait him into a trap that eventually destroyed him. There are probably things around you that you are attracted to that are sinful or that may cause you to sin. It is a trap that you should beware of so that you will not become prey to the devil.If a man is attracted to light-skinned women, the devil will put them all around him as temptations to commit fornication or adultery. If he is attracted to flashy cars, the devil will keep bringing flashy cars his way. If he lets his lust for flashy cars push him to steal, then the devil has caught him. This is why Christians must circumcise their hearts to change their affections.Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. - (Colossians 3:2)Do not be too attracted to the things of the world. You must soak yourself in the word of God. Let His word abide in you so much that the only things that are attractive to you are the things that please Him. Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Beware of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). If you discover that things of the world are becoming more attractive to you than the things of God, it means that you are vulnerable to the devil’s snare. Declare a fast for yourself, go on a retreat and spend quality time in God’s presence till that lust dies.KEY POINT:The devil knows what you are attracted to, and he will use that as bait to get you.
