What is Dean's List at Clarkson University? ›

To be eligible for the Dean's List, the student must be enrolled in at least nine hours of coursework in the fall and spring semesters and have a Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) of 3.5 or higher.

The grading is as follows: A: 94-100; B+: 87-93; B: 81-86; C+: 76-80; C: 70-75; D+: 66-69: D: 60-65; F: 60 and below. ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance is expected and required.

Once completed, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and decision letters are mailed within 5-7 business days. Please note, during the Clarkson School application review, all students will automatically be considered to apply for Clarkson's Honors Program as spaces remain available.

A-1. Maximum Time Frame for Degree Completion

The maximum time frame at Clarkson is measured in attempted hours. A student must earn 120 credits to receive a Bachelor's degree.

The award is given to a top percentile of students, like the top 10% or 25%. The exact dean's list GPA requirements will depend on each particular pool of students, but is usually at least a 3.5 GPA. To be eligible, you'll also need to be a full-time student taking a minimum number of credits (often around 12 credits).

According to The University Network, students named to the dean's list are among the top 1-5% of their class.

For courses completed at Clarkson College an A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C- and D carry Quality Grade Points, used for calculating a student's Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), A grade of “D,” “F,” or “NP” in undergraduate major, support and Core courses is considered failing.

Dean's List Meaning. The dean's list is a scholarly award for undergraduate students who achieved high scholastic standing during the academic year. The award is released after each semester, quarter, or academic year and is typically based on a student's GPA.

Deans' List. The Dean's List, published at the end of each semester, contains the names of students who have earned a GPA between 3.5—3.99*. To be eligible, students must have completed a minimum of twelve (12) semester credits of letter-graded (A, B, C, D, F) coursework; pass/no credit coursework is not included.

A dean's list is an academic award, or distinction, used to recognize the highest level scholarship demonstrated by students in a college or university. This system is most often used in North America, though institutions in Europe, Asia, and Australia may also employ similar measures.

How do I know if I am on the Dean's List? The Registrar generates the Dean's List after grades are in every semester. Eligible students will receive a 'Dean's List' notation on their transcript.
